Present Duties
The Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board (OWEB) provides grants to help Oregonians take care of local streams, rivers, wetlands and natural areas; protect farm and ranch lands; and support landscape recovery from drought and fire. Community members and landowners use scientific criteria to jointly make decisions for conservation and improvement of rivers, natural habitats and landscapes in the places where they live. OWEB grants are funded from the Oregon Lottery, federal dollars, general funds and salmon license plate revenue. The agency, which was created in 1999, is led by an 18-member citizen board drawn from the public at large, tribes and federal and state natural resource agency boards and commissions. Headquartered in Salem, OWEB has approximately 46 staff, including six regional field representatives located in offices around the state.
