The board regulates the practice of veterinary medicine in Oregon. They  make and enforce rules for competency, health and safety standards for practitioners and facilities. They also license and investigate complaints against veterinarians, Certified Veterinary Technicians, euthanasia technicians and veterinary facilities to ensure compliance the Veterinary Practice Act. Facilities are regularly inspected for compliance with health, sanitation and drug safety requirements. Board members include five veterinarians, two members of the public and one Certified Veterinary Technician.​
