Present Duties
The Construction Contractors Board (CCB) serves Oregonians by preventing and resolving construction contracting problems. The agency licenses contractors, investigates complaints against licensees and penalizes unlawful contractors. The CCB educates the public about how to avoid problems on construction projects and helps mediate disputes between homeowners and licensed contractors.
To become licensed, contractors must meet minimum education and experience requirements and pass a test. Some advanced licenses require prior construction experience. Licensed contractors are subject to continuing education requirements.
The CCB employs approximately 60 people. Enforcement officers and dispute mediators are deployed across the state. The board is made up of nine members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate. Members represent different segments of the construction industry, the public and local government.
