Lobby
Page Content
A lobby is where a person enters a building, gets oriented, perhaps enjoys the architecture or artwork and then moves to other rooms to conduct business. The lobby of this online tour serves the same function. Learn about the State Archives and its services, linger over artwork and exhibits, get registered and then move to the reference room to start your research.
Exhibits
We use selected records, photographs and other media from the Archives holdings to create exhibits displayed in the exhibit gallery and waiting room adjacent to the lobby as well as online. The exhibits highlight interesting records and help interpret trends and events in Oregon's social, political, cultural and economic history.
Exhibits mounted in the gallery and waiting room change periodically and may include traveling exhibits from other institutions. Online exhibits include more information and images and remain online after the gallery exhibit is changed.
Additionally, the Archives participates in cooperative projects with other institutions. An example of one of these projects is
the Oregon Historical Photograph Collection (with Salem Public Library and Marion County Historical Society).
