State Records Center
Page Content
The State Records Center is a warehouse that accepts records from Oregon
state agencies after
they're no longer needed for
day-to-day business. It's operated by the
Archives Division.
Once an agency transfers permanent records to the State Archives, they become
our custody. By contrast, the originating agency retains custody of the records it stores at the State Records Center and can request their return anytime.
Holdings are tracked using state-of-the-art technology, guaranteeing customers
a 24-hour turnaround on file requests. When boxes of records meet their retention periods, staff at the State Records Center arrange for their destruction.
